Veteran Googler Heads to Lyft to Lead 1,000-Plus Engineering Team

Google veteran Eisar Lipkovitz joins Lyft as EVP of engineering to lead a team of over 1,000.

Eisar Lipkovitz, a 15-year veteran of Google, leaves the search giant to join Lyft as Executive Vice President of Engineering. In this major new role, Lipkovitz leads a massive technical team of over 1,000 engineers and reports directly to Lyft co-founder and CEO Logan Green.

Lyft's engineering division doubles in size over the past year, making Lipkovitz's arrival a critical move for managing rapid growth. His hiring follows a similar trend of bringing in top talent, as the company also recently appoints former Google veteran Manish Gupta as VP of engineering for business platforms.

This leadership expansion supports Lyft's impressive business momentum, which currently includes 96% coverage of the United States population and a 35% ride-hailing market share. While Lipkovitz focuses on core engineering, Luc Vincent continues to lead Lyft's autonomous vehicle technology program as a separate division.
