Volkswagen Brings ChatGPT AI Assistant to Its Vehicle Fleet
Volkswagen unveils a new integration of ChatGPT into its vehicles, allowing drivers to interact with an advanced AI assistant on the go. The feature debuts at CES and aims to enhance the in-car experience through natural voice commands.
Volkswagen introduces ChatGPT into its vehicles as a world premiere at the Consumer Electronics Show, transforming how drivers interact with their cars. This new feature integrates directly into the existing voice assistant, eliminating the need for drivers to create new accounts or download separate applications to access the AI.
The intelligent chatbot controls various vehicle functions, answers general knowledge questions, and provides conversational enrichment while the driver keeps their hands on the wheel. Users activate the system simply by saying "Hello IDA" or pressing the steering wheel voice button, making the technology highly accessible during everyday drives.
This upgrade launches first in Volkswagen's ID. electric vehicles and the new Golf, Tiguan, and Passat models in Europe, with plans to expand to the North American market shortly after. By partnering with Cerence Inc. to incorporate ChatGPT, Volkswagen establishes itself as the first volume manufacturer to offer this level of standard AI integration across its mainstream lineup.
