Walmart and Oracle Secure Tentative Deal to Acquire Stake in TikTok Global

Walmart and Oracle announce a tentative agreement to purchase a 20% combined stake in a newly created, US-based company called TikTok Global. The deal promises thousands of new American jobs and aims to integrate Walmart's e-commerce services with the popular video app.

Walmart expresses excitement about its potential investment in and commercial agreements with TikTok Global. The retail giant tentatively agrees to purchase a 7.5% stake in the newly formed entity and plans to provide ecommerce, fulfillment, and payment services to the platform. Walmart CEO Doug McMillon is set to serve as one of five board members for this new American company.

Oracle and Walmart together invest to acquire a 20% combined stake in TikTok Global, a newly created business that will serve users in the United States and most of the rest of the world. The US administration conditionally approves this landmark deal, which makes Oracle the secure cloud provider for the platform. TikTok Global operates as an independent American company that is majority owned by American investors.

This partnership allows Walmart to expand its reach and grow its third-party marketplace and advertising businesses. The companies believe the transaction brings over 25,000 jobs to the US over time and work toward an initial public offering within the next year. Final agreements still require formal approval from relevant US government agencies before the deal completely closes.
