Walmart Drops Solar Panel Fire Lawsuit Against Tesla After Settlement

Walmart and Tesla resolve a legal dispute over rooftop solar panel fires that affected seven retail stores. The companies now plan to safely reactivate the sustainable energy systems.

Walmart drops its lawsuit against Tesla after the two companies reach a settlement regarding rooftop solar panel fires. The retailer initially sues Tesla Energy Operations, formerly known as SolarCity, over allegations of gross negligence and breach of contract following fires at seven store locations.

A stipulation of dismissal is filed with the court, though the exact terms of the settlement remain unclear. Despite the previous request to remove solar panels from all 240 Walmart locations, the companies now state that the safety concerns are fully addressed.

Both companies emphasize that safety is a top priority as they look forward to a safe re-energization of the sustainable energy systems. This resolution officially ends the legal battle just three months after Walmart initially files the lawsuit in a New York state court.
