The company applies lessons learned from its successful Metro Phoenix operations, where it serves tens of thousands of fully autonomous rides. In this initial San Francisco phase, an autonomous specialist remains in the vehicle to monitor the journey. Trusted Testers hail rides to everyday destinations across a designated service area, including neighborhoods like the Sunset and Golden Gate Park.
Participants use the Waymo One app and share detailed feedback on their entire experience, from pickup to drop-off. The program starts with a select group and expands to more interested San Franciscans in the coming weeks.
