White House Issues Strict 15-Day Guidelines to Slow Coronavirus Spread

The Trump administration releases a strict set of 15-day guidelines urging Americans to avoid gatherings of ten or more people and work from home. The recommendations come as U.S. cases surpass 4,000 and the stock market experiences record losses.

President Donald Trump announces a strict set of guidelines for Americans to follow for the next 15 days to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The recommendations urge people to sharply limit normal behaviors regarding eating out, shopping, and socializing as reported U.S. cases rise above 4,000.

The guidelines advise citizens to avoid social gatherings of more than 10 people and discourage eating or drinking at bars, restaurants, and food courts. In states with community transmission, officials direct the closure of bars, restaurants, gyms, and other venues where groups congregate.

Additional recommendations include working or schooling from home whenever possible, avoiding discretionary travel, and practicing good hygiene. The guidelines specifically urge older individuals and those with serious underlying health conditions to stay home and away from other people to reduce transmission risks.
