Wing and DoorDash Expand Drone Delivery to Dallas-Fort Worth Area
Alphabet's Wing and DoorDash are bringing fast drone delivery to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, allowing customers to receive meals from 50 local merchants in as little as 15 minutes.
Alphabet’s Wing expands its partnership with DoorDash to bring drone delivery to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Customers in the area order food from 50 merchants located in Stonebriar Centre in Frisco and Hulen Mall in Fort Worth. Eligible users see the drone delivery option directly within the DoorDash app when placing an order.
The drones deliver items to doorsteps in as little as 15 minutes by traveling at speeds of 65 mph at a cruising height of about 150 feet. Wing notes that smaller orders are more likely to qualify for drone delivery, and larger orders may require multiple drones. Customers can check their address eligibility on Wing’s official website.
This expansion builds on a previous U.S. pilot in Christiansburg, Virginia, and an earlier partnership in Australia. With over 400,000 commercial deliveries completed worldwide, Wing also maintains separate drone delivery partnerships with major retailers like Walmart and Walgreens as it scales its aerial logistics network.
