Withings Unveils Three-in-One Heart Monitor for At-Home Cardiovascular Care

Withings bounces back from its brief Nokia acquisition by introducing the BPM Core, an ambitious three-in-one cardiovascular health monitor. The device looks like a standard blood pressure arm cuff but packs in blood pressure sensors, ECG electrodes, and a digital stethoscope to evaluate heart valve health.
Users simply press a button to complete a full cardiovascular checkup in about 90 seconds. The accompanying smartphone app analyzes the ECG data to identify normal sinus rhythm or suspected atrial fibrillation, a condition that often goes unnoticed in its early stages.
Withings designs the system to let patients easily share heart audio recordings and other data with their doctors between regular visits. The company currently seeks FDA clearance for the BPM Core and plans to sell the rechargeable device for $250 starting in the second quarter.
