xAI Launches Faster Grok 2 Model and New Dedicated Button on X
xAI rolls out a triple-speed upgraded Grok 2 chatbot to X users alongside a new Grok button for discovering real-time context. The company also cuts API pricing and prepares to add its Aurora image generator to developer tools.
xAI releases an upgraded version of its Grok 2 chatbot on X, claiming the new model is three times faster than its predecessor. The update brings improved accuracy, better instruction-following, and enhanced multilingual capabilities to all users on the social platform. Free users get a limit of 10 questions every two hours, while Premium and Premium+ subscribers enjoy higher usage caps.
The company also introduces a dedicated Grok button on X to help users find relevant context and understand real-time events. This button allows people to dive deeper into trending discussions directly from the platform. The feature integrates the AI assistant more prominently into the core social media experience.
In addition to consumer updates, xAI significantly reduces pricing for its enterprise API due to new efficiency gains. Input token costs drop from $5 to $2 per million tokens, while output token costs decrease from $15 to $10 per million tokens. Furthermore, xAI plans to launch its Aurora image generation model on the API in the coming weeks.
