Social media app Yubo introduces new safety features after users report that the Uvalde school shooter uses the platform to post disturbing messages. Multiple teenagers state that they report an account believed to belong to Salvador Ramos for sharing violent and sexually aggressive content, but the app takes little to no action at the time.
Yubo confirms that it bans the account in question and accelerates the rollout of safety developments in response to the devastating event. The Paris-based company updates its reporting tools so users can attach up to four media files, such as screenshots and video recordings, to provide better context for moderation staff.
CEO and co-founder Sacha Lazimi states that the tragedy highlights systemic issues in society that require immediate attention. Along with the enhanced reporting capabilities, Yubo broadens how it responds to flagged content to better protect its community and prevent similar incidents in the future.
