Boundary Layer Technologies secures major launch partners, including Schneider Electric, for its high-speed, hydrogen-powered cargo ships known as ARGO. These zero-emission vessels use green liquid hydrogen and fuel cells to offer a sustainable alternative to regional air freight. The company focuses on cutting carbon emissions in hard-to-abate sectors by providing fast ocean transit that directly competes with airborne logistics.
The startup targets a large-scale roll-out in Asia by the first quarter of 2025. The flagship vessel boasts a gross payload capacity of 200 tons and reaches a cruising speed of 40 knots, achieved through proprietary hydrofoil technology. Boundary Layer's CEO believes nearly every Fortune 500 company relying on air freight in Asia will eventually need this high-speed container transport solution.
Beyond the initial launch partners, Boundary Layer is in advanced discussions with large corporations in computer manufacturing, medical equipment, consumer electronics, and automotive sectors. These expanding partnerships demonstrate the broad demand for ARGO's logistics capabilities. The company remains singularly focused on preparing its first vessel to load containers for commercial service in the near future.
