Zoom Crushes Q2 Expectations as Remote Work Fuels Massive Revenue Surge
Zoom reports a 355% year-over-year revenue increase, smashing analyst estimates as the pandemic-driven shift to remote work accelerates.
Zoom Video Communications reports a stellar second quarter, generating over $664 million in revenue. This 355% year-over-year increase easily beats analyst estimates of $501 million, while earnings per share reach $0.92, nearly doubling expectations. The company's paying customer base also surges to 370,200, reflecting a 458% jump from the previous year.
The video conferencing giant stands out as a top business benefactor of the pandemic, which forces millions of workers out of traditional offices and accelerates digital transformation. Zoom's stock climbs 8.6% during regular trading and jumps another 9% in after-hours activity, bringing its staggering year-to-date gain to 373%.
CEO Eric Yuan notes that organizations are shifting from immediate business continuity needs to supporting a long-term future of working and learning anywhere. With 83% of current remote workers wanting to stay home at least partially through the end of the year, Zoom raises its full-year revenue outlook to $2.39 billion.
