ZoomInfo Buys Chorus.ai for $575M to Boost AI Sales Tools

ZoomInfo acquires conversational AI startup Chorus.ai for $575 million to expand its sales intelligence platform.

ZoomInfo acquires conversational sales intelligence startup Chorus.ai for $575 million to expand its platform capabilities. While ZoomInfo traditionally provides customer data at the top of the sales funnel, Chorus.ai uses artificial intelligence to analyze actual sales calls and capture insights from the middle of the funnel. This combination allows the entire organization to access valuable analytics that previously required sitting in on every customer success or sales call.

Chorus.ai scans sales conversations for "smart themes" to help managers guide their teams toward tones and topics that drive more revenue. The company holds the largest patent portfolio in the conversational intelligence space and experiences rapid growth, tripling its revenue and doubling its headcount in the year leading up to its 2020 Series C funding round.

The $575 million deal represents a massive return for Chorus investors, as PitchBook data indicates the startup's final private valuation sits around the $150 million mark. ZoomInfo, currently valued at just under $21 billion, sees this acquisition as a strategic way to unify different stages of the sales process into a single, AI-powered platform for its customers.
